The Final Leg

Hello Everyone!

We are in the final leg of our Christmas adventure, and soon it’ll be time to pack up the ornaments, wrap up the tree, and feed the leftovers to the trashcan, but there are those of us who aren’t thinking about that just yet. Since we still have those last-minute presents to buy, let’s look at some of the options that are still open to us. So, for those of you who are about to panic, take a deep breath, calm down and listen. These easy fixes will be sure to get you into the good books of those you’ve forgotten to buy for.

1.    Bath-time and Christmas

For our first suggestion, we’ll start off with the go-to Christmas gift, for most women (and some men, if you’re up for it)…Luxury bath items. This one is the Merry Christmas box from Lush. I’d say if you have anyone who enjoys a good bubble bath or some “me-time” then this present will definitely be a great surprise. Not only does it say, “I know you’ve been busy, so have some down time!” but it’s also a great way for them to know you appreciate how hard they’ve worked all year.

I know that if I got a Lush bath bomb in my Christmas stocking, I’d use it almost instantly, because they’re that special treat I’ve been meaning to use, all year. From having to go through my last year at university, to training for this promotion at my current job, and working on my blog, I definitely need some me-time.

The Merry Christmas box is only £19.95 and there are 4 products in it:

a.    The Golden Wonder bath bomb
b.    The Snow Angel bath melt
c.    The So White bath bomb
d.    The Shoot For The Stars bath bomb

2.    Money Savers

For the friends and family, you know have trouble saving money, I suggest you get them a money box of some kind. The ATM Maxi Money Bank from Menkind is probably the best present you can get them. Not only will it encourage them to save money, but it will probably be fun.

Yes, the general idea of using an ATM machine is to take money out, but there’s also the option for you to deposit money into your account, whenever you go to a real bank. So, it’s a win-win situation, really. Not only are they saving money, but they’re getting all the fun of using an ATM machine (especially if it’s for a child). Not only that, you could use it to work towards a goal, like your next trip, or to pay off a debt.

I know my parents love the money bank we got them a few years ago. After all they’re using it to save for their anniversary trip to Norway, next year. The ATM Maxi Money Bank costs £29.99 and comes with its very own security card. You can also input your own codes, if you really want to make it rough for everyone else to take your money.

3.    Novelty For A Change

If you’re tight on money, and can only afford something that’ll probably cost as much as a candy bar from a convenience store, then I suggest you find your way to your nearest Tiger store (or use the Flying Tiger website). Most of their products are £20 or under. You can even get classic games, like Connect Four, for only £1.00. If you’re not one for spending so much, then I suggest any Tiger products would be the best option. It’s affordable and durable.

I should know, last year, I bought all my Christmas presents for my friends and family from Tiger, and I would have done so again this year, if only my local store hadn’t closed down. Not to mention, I would have probably bought the entire store for myself, since I am obsessed with their products!

4.    Let’s Make It Smell Like Christmas

Another go-to present for Christmas would be perfume. Branded products, like Boss, J’adore and Chanel are currently on their last promotions, so if you have the money to spend, then getting a good perfume is your safest bet. If you know the person well, and know what their favourite brand is, then get it!

I can’t really say much about wearing perfume, but if I ever did get one for Christmas, I know I’ll be using it on my pillows at night. It’s an unconventional way of using it, but at least it’s getting used. Trust me, I like sleeping with my pillows scented, I actually drift off better if they are, so if you’re the one receiving the gift, and you’re not one for wearing perfume, try it. It’s worth a go!

5.    Let’s Play A Game

This is mostly for the kids. If you have a child (or someone you know has a child) then I suggest you get down to Toys R Us or Hamleys or even The Works to find the perfect gift for them. I know most children nowadays prefer to use the PlayStation or Xbox, but a classic like Monopoly or Snakes and Ladders will get the young ones to use their imagination and their brains.

I loved playing jigsaw puzzles, board games like Snakes and Ladders or a game of cards, at Christmas, especially as a kid (of course, to many I still am). Even now, I crave for the days when I can sit down with my cousins and play a good old game of Go Fish or Donkey. In a world where technology is slowly taking over, sometimes you need a good old classic to get your creativity back. I know this Christmas I’ll be working on a jigsaw puzzle I’ve kept in the closet, for the last couple of years, just because I want to.

 The Choice Is Yours

So, there it is, my last-minute Christmas list. These go-to presents aren’t too far off the mark, you don’t have to spend £100s on these gifts, and they’re easily accessible. You don’t even need to order them online! Just pop down to your nearest High Street and you’re guaranteed to find something for your friends and family.

Of course, if you’re not sure, and you’re desperate for something, then the most practical gift of all (at least I’d say they are) are…

SOCKS!

You can never go wrong with a good pair of socks, especially the ones that you can wear at home. If all I received at Christmas, this year, are socks, I’d be fine with that. In fact, I’d probably dedicate an entire wardrobe to them, since I keep losing them (for some odd reason).

Well, now it’s up to you. Let us know what your last-minute buys are, and if you have any other ideas, write them down in the comments below! I’d probably be inspired for next Christmas. In fact, I’m already planning my list!

So, that’s it from me today. I’m going to go bake up another batch of cookies, since I’ve run out. If you haven’t checked out that post, you can find it in the Crafts section of this blog, or just click the link below to get you to the post itself.
