Hello, my name is Sugar Daddy…and I come bearing some news. Enjoy.
The switch is one of the most successful gaming consoles that Nintendo has made. So, of course they’re going to make another Pokémon game.
On the GameFreak website, they recently posted two job posts for a 3D CG designer and a character modeller. Going through the details of the job title, they are looking for someone to create new models of a new consumer game and consult with programmers. Now, here are where the hints are:
“will create models of deformed toon-like characters, monsters, items and so on”
Not enough information? They also posted:
“We’ll have you work on the production of an RPG game that is popular on a global scale”
Now, reading that, how in Arceus does this not sound like a Pokémon game? It’s like having someone show you a bottle of water, and then saying it’s Coke. We know the truth and Nintendo you can’t hide it from us, especially since it’s GameFreak. So, with that in mind, I thought about the switch and what it can do, what type of game do I want to see?
Looking at the line of games coming out on the Switch, they all have one thing in common and that is they are all open world. Try to imagine the world as big as Zelda: Breath Of The Wild with Pokémon and you can engage them, capture them, ride with them and finally have badass 3D battles with them.
Now, Nintendo has stated that this game would not replace the handheld, such as Sun And Moon. However, there were games that could be played similarly to it that was actually console-exclusive once. That game was Pokémon Colosseum. This game was on the Nintendo Game Cube, and to me, it was one of the must-have games on the system. It had 2v2 battles and, although it was not open world, it was different and fun. Plus it was amazing to see our favourite Pokémon battle it out on a more powerful system.
So imagine what the switch can do. Flying on legendary Pokémon, swimming in the sea, going through tall grass with any Pokémon by your side…just thinking about it! It makes me want to pre-order.
Pokémon: The Fighting Game
So we have already had a game in the fighting genre with Pokken, but what if the new Switch game is another one, or a sequel to Pokken? The problem with this is that, although they had the iconic Pokémon from both the early and most of the current generations, I feel like the 16 characters, they had, though different in play style in every way, were too small of a roster, especially when you have over 700 Pokémon.
With Pokémon being over 20 years old, Pokken did not disappoint, especially when showing off the diversity of the Pokémons’ fighting styles. However, the combat potential for the characters were rather basic and lacking, compared to other fighting games. So, with that in mind, what I would like to see, if it was a new Pokémon fighting game, would be a much bigger roster, and a more in-depth combo fighting system.
Don’t get me wrong, I was excited to play Pokken, purely because they had a character called Ken (Tekken), so, I assumed I would be able to juggle my opponents and still move around quite quickly. Perhaps this new game might include a mixture of Tekken and the Naruto styles, just because Pokémon battles, in the series, can be a lot more dramatic, and every punch they threw looked powerful, yet painful.
Pokémon: Gotta Catch ‘Em All!
Whatever game (or games) we get. If it is open world or a new Pokken, I would be happy with both, because I loved beating other trainers with my Blazekin fighting style and seeing a new game in the style of Colosseum would make my heart melt to the floor, with happiness and excitement.
Plus, if they were able to improve on it and make it better, then the game may be the best one to be released yet, just because of the what the Switch can do. I guess I may have to buy a power bank, because, when this or these games are released, I’d be able to play them non-stop. So, whichever we, the fans, get, let us be happy because it is going to be the first new Pokémon game on the new Nintendo console.
Hope you guys enjoyed my ideas of what the new game, GameFreak is making, could be. If you enjoyed this post, please leave a like, a share, and a tip in the jar below! It really helps me and Feather Charm out.
