Hello, gamers it’s Sugar Daddy here!
Today is all about the top 3 games you should check out this May (at least, they’re my top 3). If you enjoy these games and want me to do a review of them, then just leave a comment down below. So let’s get started.
Number one: Prey
Prey was released on May 5th, on the PS4, XBOX One and PC. This is a reimagining of the original, which was released on 2006, which was made by the people that gave us the Dishonoured series. The game itself has been compared to the 1994 game, System Shock, and its spiritual successor, due to the setting we are thrown in. The story is about Morgan Yu, who journeys through a dark and scary looking space station that is filled with strange creaks, and groans of something following you, and a lot of dead bodies. Once you discover that you were in an experiment, you must go through the scary space station called Talos 1, and fight off robots and alien creatures, which have the ability to copy or mimic whatever they see. Basically, you’d have to always be on your guard, because the enemy could be anyone.
This is felt throughout the game, even as you start the game…Actually, it reminded me a lot of when I first saw Rapture from Bioshock, not only is the world you’re in beautiful, but you always have this strange sensation, as if you weren’t meant to be there, or not meant to have seen something. However, where Bioshock offered an entire city, which was made up of Linear Districts and each followed with its own unique look, and vibe because of the boss, Talos 1 is more open with its chaos. An example of this is the story, it’s a little refreshing because of some of the people we meet. They would act in that way that screams “pure survival”, especially when the monster can turn into any objects. You start to question what is real and fake. What makes the game also interesting is when you begin to collect resources, and putting them into a recycler, this allows you to make more upgrades, and weapons. Also, I just want to say that I hope recycling becomes that much more fun in the future, because I’m getting annoyed with these blue bags taking up my space. Overall, if you are into FFS and a single player camping this MAY be the game for you. See what I did there?
Number Two: Injustice 2
Injustice 2 will be released on May 19th, on the PS4 and XBOX One. This is one of my most anticipated games of the year; if you don’t know and want to know more about this game then check my previous post (Feather’s Games: Injustice 2). We follow our characters right where we left off in the first game (spoilers by the way), but superman was defeated and is in prison and the regime is now no more. However, a group called, the Society, wishes to take over the city and are led by Gorilla Grodd; but the is a force much greater, than our angry gorilla.
Destroying Earth and taking its heroes and cities as a trophy, since he collects them, is this big bad’s agenda. His name? Brainiac. The guys who are bringing this game to us is none other than Nether Realm Studios. They are most famous for their Mortal Kombat series. This is one of the biggest games being released this year, due to the fact it is one of the biggest fighting games, which will be more like Evo 2017 and is looking to beat Tekken 7 and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinity, which are all coming out this year. So, if you are a fan of fighting games, then get ready for one of the biggest ones ever! Get those consoles and controllers cleaned and ready. You’re about to play against thousands of heroes or villains online, and if you are really good, then join the tournaments which will be held this year, with a grand prize of 600.000 dollars. I better start practicing.
Number Three: Strafe
This first person shooter game was released on May 9th, on PS4 and PC. When we take our first look at this game, we see this strange, old school-looking game, which is a love letter to all the classics such as Doom and Quake (by the way, they’re one of my favourite games). Strafe seems to maintain this hyper-fast and gory feel of the 90s, but with its own unique take on the genre.
You play as a space scrapper, with one job, and that’s to collect scrap with your ship called ICARUS, which, if I recall, burnt his wings off because he flew too close to the sun (Dumbass). Anyway, Strafe’s core gameplay of blasting foes and dashing all over the map is fun and intense, because although it’s fast and fun, it can be extremely hard, especially when you’re cornered with so little ammo. However, I never stopped having fun, this game is a quite unforgiving and very frustrating, but I always found myself trying again, this game is beautiful in a way, because it almost shows younger gamers, who’ve never played Doom or Quake what games were like, back in the day.
Those are my Top 3 games of May that you should try out. Did I miss any, leave a comment below and support Feather Charm.
