Feather’s Crafts: Let Friendships Run Wild

Hello Everyone!

Today I’ve got another craft idea for you! Once again you just need yarn or thread, no needle this time! So, alongside my crochet projects and knitting projects, I’ve got a project, on a smaller scale, in the works. It’s nothing major, and I’m not yet sure if I’m going to sell any of these in the shop, but perhaps, if I have enough time, I’ll sell some of the larger projects.

If you haven’t already guessed from the title, the project is focused around friendship bracelets! Yes, those little stringy things that young girls wear on their wrists as a symbol of their “undying” friendship. The only difference is they’re bracelets. I’m looking to make bookmarks, bags and cup holders (save the trees, you know!).

I haven’t actually made anything yet, but over the next week or so, you’ll see the progress of my current bookmark, which I will be using for myself. However, if you’re interested in the pattern, and would like me to make one for you, just comment your name and email address below and I’ll get back to you on it!

What Inspired This?

So, I’ve known how to knot friendship bracelets, almost as long as I knew how to crochet. The only reason I haven’t recently taken up a project is because I’ve got my hands full of the many other projects you know I’m working on; not to mention, I’m also working part-time as a store supervisor (it drains a lot out of you!).

In any case, I actually loved making friendship bracelets, they were easier to make, since they were small, and although future projects may be larger, they’re still fun! All you really need is yarn and something to hold back the thread while you work on each row. In fact, they’re much more portable than any knitting or crochet project, since you don’t need to travel with the needles or balls of thread to keep adding to them. So I may just work on them while I’m at work.

Will You Sell Them In The Shop?

As I said before, I’m not too sure. After all, I’ve barely even set up the shop, so it’s highly unlikely they’ll be up there for now. However, if I’m confident enough that they won’t just be a novelty that’s aimed at children, then I may just add some on there, and probably showcase them. After all, they won’t just be any ordinary bracelets, they will be larger projects, like bookmarks, or book bags, or even (if I have the stamina and help) wall tapestries!

I do have big plans for all my projects, I just hope I can fulfil them at all.  So, for now, expect the little things to be made first, since I’m not yet confident I’ll sell at all. If anything, I’ll try to come up with patterns that you guys can try, yourselves! I may even make a few tutorials for you, even though you can find them on many other websites on the internet, sometimes it’s easier to find them in the same place.

Well, that’s it for now. It’s your turn. Do you know how to make friendship bracelets? What are your favourite patterns? If you don’t know how to make them, would you like to try? Leave all your tips in the jar below, and I’ll see you soon!
