Feather’s First Time Cooking!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my Craft’s section! So as promised, I’m starting out this section with a cooking story! Yes, I know I’ve made at least two other posts on my blog about this cooking thing! But here’s the full story!



Ok, so first off you need to know, I’ve only ever fried my breakfasts, thanks to Blogilates recipes (I absolutely love her stuff!) but I’ve never really cooked a proper meal, that is lunch and/or dinner. This is thanks in part to my mom. She’s always the one cooking, and I never really get the chance to because we already have lots of food in the fridge/freezer and on the stove, so it was quite surreal and nerve wracking when I approached her and asked if I could make lunch for myself. Unexpectedly, she said yes, and in her own words, “You’re 22 already, you need to learn how to cook!”




I finally have some flexibility in this house! Thank goodness my parents aren’t so strict that I can’t do anything for myself!

So what did I cook? Well, since I’m an avid Facebook user (in terms of my personal account), I found a recipe on one of the cooking pages that I follow. It looked easy enough (like most of the other recipes they showcase) and I decided to try it, since I had enough free time on my hands. Four Ways to Make Baked Chicken

Ok, so here’s the images of the chickens they baked:



As you can see they look pretty appetising enough, so I decided to try one of the easier bakes…the first one. I mean, all you really need to do for it is slather it with pesto, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, how hard can that be?

Not too hard at all!

I actually didn’t find it hard at all, in fact it just reminded me of all the times I fried my own breakfast. I guess, all those times making my own crepes and French toasts and waffles just made cooking for lunch and dinner a natural transition. I can’t actually wait to cook my own food again soon!

So this is what it looked like in the oven, as I was making it. It did actually look very appetising.


And here’s the result! I was so please when I took my first bite. It was juicy and not at all dry, and the pesto added so much more flavour!


Here’s where things get a little more interesting. So I had cooked two chicken breasts, because I didn’t want to waste the other one, and I had originally planned for mom to have it, but then my cousin came over, and well, let’s just say he loves pesto chicken. He stayed for dinner and mom decided to share the chicken with my sister and my cousin and I was on the verge of a breakdown, because I was worrying about their reactions. Needless to say, I didn’t need to, they actually liked it, and my sister requested the day after for me to make it again. No doubt I will! I’ll probably make it again in the next few weeks.

So is there a lesson to this story? Yes. Yes, there is.

The lesson is: nothing is as extreme as your imagination. So don’t always expect the worst. Prepare for it, but don’t always expect it to happen.
