Feather’s Music Track 1 – Christ Be Our Light

Hello Everyone!

So this is the very first music arrangement I made, using ScoreCloud (not to be mistaken for SoundCloud). It’s a sheet music making app that I found and I have to say, it’s really awesome to use! This hymn was inspired by the fact that it’s the Easter season in the Catholic church, and our priest said something about the light of Christ leading us to God, as represented by the Paschal Candle. It’s an amazing thing to think about and I’m really sad I missed the Easter Vigil Mass, but hey, there’s always next year!

If you want to check out the sheet music, that made this piece, click here:

Christ Be Our Light

Just a side note: The arrangement only has three verses in it, but in the original there are five. When I wrote this piece, I had the first, second and last verse in mind, but you can choose the other two verses if they fit with your idea for the hymn.

Lyrics by Bernadette Farrell

Longing for light, we wait in darkness,

Longing for truth, we turn to you,

Make us your own, your holy people,

Light for the world to see.

Christ be our light, Shine in our hearts,

Shine through the darkness,

Christ be our light, Shine in your church,

Gathered today.

Longing for peace, our world is troubled,

Longing for hope, many despair,

Your word alone, has pow’r to save us,

Make us your living voice.

Longing for food, many are hungry,

Longing for water, many still thirst,

Make us your bread, broken for others,

Shared until all are fed.

Longing for shelter, many are homeless,

Longing for warmth, many are cold,

Make us your building, sheltering others,

Walls made of living stone.

Many the gifts, many the people,

Many the hearts, that yearn to be long,

Let us be servants to one another,

Making your kingdom come.

So what do you think? Let me know in the comments below, and I’ll see you next week with another arrangement.
