Today, I am coming at you from Switzerland! If you don’t already know. So here’s my log for the day. I hope you enjoy it!
Alright y’all know one of the main features of this blog is my travels, and well, I thought, why not start this season of posting off with a “Big Bang”, after all I have just come back from my year long hiatus, thanks to the end of my university experience.
So yes, we are on our way to the home of CERN, the Swiss Alps and the Swiss Chocolate, Cheese and Watch. To start our day off we woke up ungodly early just to get to the airport for our 8:35am flight! Man I have not woken up this early in such a long time…I don’t miss it. Anyway, as usual dad dropped us off at the station, and now we’re waiting for him to drop off the car and take the bus to us, so we can go to the airport! Right now I’m listening to Kpop and worrying about how stressed dad’ll be in once he gets here…he’s always stressed when it comes to flying out of a country (regardless if we’re leaving or going home). Well, there’s nothing else to say here, so I’ll be signing off until we get to the airport!
Good news! He wasn’t as stressed as I thought he’d be, so I worried for nothing. Thank goodness! So now we’re on the plane, since there really wasn’t much to tell about the wait.. The bag was quickly checked in (since we only have one check-in baggage) and I did some much needed catching up on all my social media platforms plus we had some breakfast, since we didn’t have much time beforehand, to eat. I guess you could say this morning has been pretty eventful, and it’s only 8:48am!
So now what? Well, because I don’t have wifi and I didn’t download any films to watch, I’ll be working on my colouring throughout the flight, and if I can I’ll get that much needed shut-eye thanks to the less than 8 hours of sleep I got last night.
A Little Note On Airplane Food
Ok, so the one thing you can expect from air travel is the shoddy meal plan, and yes you expect it to taste like cardboard, but that doesn’t really bother me much. No, what bothers me is the amount of space you get in terms of table space (never mind elbow space). I mean, as someone who has to do something while she eats, especially if she’s eating alone, it’s rather frustrating that the “tables” airlines provide are just too small for us multitaskers! You just don’t get enough space for everything, and you have to compromise: either refuse the meal, or drop what you’re doing, and eat like the sad little person you are when you have no one to talk to…basically look like a cow while it’s munching on grass. It’s so frustrating for an introvert like me, especially when I’m not sitting with family or friends, and I have work to do on my laptop or I’m writing something down in my little notebooks or just filling my time with colouring. If you’re sitting next to a stranger, on a plane, and you have anxiety and introversion it gets pretty terrifying if you have to ask them to do something for you, like hold your meal while you put your stuff away. It’s very likely that I’ll end up having an internal panic attack, while I just sit there with my stuff in my hands and no way of eating my food.
Well at least I don’t have to worry about that this time, since I’m sitting between my mom and sister, and my drink is finished, not to mention. I had a breakfast bagel earlier so I’m not particularly hungry. So that’s it for now, I’ll check in later once we’ve landed.
It’s 10:09am and we have touchdown! Actually, it’s 11:09am here in Switzerland and I am so sleepy! I didn’t even get to take that nap I wanted to take! I thought this flight was gonna take longer than just one hour, but it looks like I was wrong, well at least I got some colouring done, and I can’t wait to finish it on this trip!
So right now we’re waiting for dad to pick up the car, but it looks like we’re gonna have to wait a while before we can actually book it out. You see, there’s this policy, “return the car roughly around the time you booked it out” and we didn’t want to have to wake up at 6am on the day of our flight out, when the flight itself is at 6pm! So, we’re sitting here, in a café at the airport and I’m having strawberry and raspberry sorbet because it was there, and I’m catching up on more social media stuff, whilst colouring in the rest of this postcard (I’m a busybody, so what?). At least for the most part, the compass itself is finished, and all that’s left is the forest border, that will be done in time.
Finally! After waiting around for 2 hours, we have our car! I was getting pretty bored, since we decided to go outside and “enjoy the fresh air”, and I was slowly flagging in and out of consciousness thanks again to the lack of sleep I got last night. Anyways, that’s all done with, now I can finally get that nap I’ve been waiting for! So long for now!
Oh and yes this is our car for the truth! It’s so cool! I’ll show y’all the interiors tomorrow.
At last, it’s come down to the final leg. So we got to the place we’re staying at pretty quickly, no stops at any gas stations or whatnots and, despite the fact that mom got the numbers mixed up we found the little apartment that we booked on AirB&B, and it is the most adorable thing we’ve ever lived in! It’s like I’m living in one of those historical houses, with those model beds and stuff! I mean just look at this place. Not only that…there are cows and and livestock surrounding us, and you can hear them and their cowbells every now and then! It’s literally like something out of a fairytale! I feel like I’ve stepped into one of my favourite worlds and I never want to leave!
Oh yes, and that’s me there, sitting on my bed, in a cupboard…granted it’s not under any staircases, but at least Harry Potter isn’t alone in sleeping in a cupboard.
As for a little downside to this holiday, I suggest if you ever want to visit Switzerland, save up. The prices here are no joke, and if you want a decent breakfast (if you’re not staying at an all inclusive hotel) you’re going to have to put up with the ridiculously high prices. Seriously, bread here is like £5. So if you want to come and enjoy the beauty Switzerland has to offer, you’re going to have to make a few sacrifices if you’re going to last here.
Well that’s it from me for now, I’m just going to bask in the daydreams that are suddenly popping up into my head while I continue to colour in my postcards (because we don’t actually have a TV here) until I can go to sleep.
So what do you think? Let me know in the comments below, and tell me if you’ve been to Switzerland yourself? Got any tips? I’d like to hear them. For now, this is Feather signing out!
